The ca. 50-yr-old Whitebeam (Sorbus aria) came from a Cement compound in the industrial estate of Altens (North-Aberdeen). It stood near the border with neighbouring houses and residents had complained about overhanging branches and lack of light (common dead-sentence scenarios for urban trees). The Cement Company decided to take it down. The wood was lovely spalted.
