I received a few pieces of Walnut (Juglans regia) as a gift from a local timber merchant, and do not know the origin of this tree. Walnuts are relatively rare trees in Aberdeenshire, but there are a few around, especially in parks and arboreta. They never bear nuts of any value and tend not to get very old. The wood however is full of colour and beauty.
