The Ash (Fraxinus excelsior) from which this bowl is made was around 120 yrs old and grew in a residential garden in Cults, Aberdeen. The tree was a survivor from earlier agricultural occupation and much older than house or garden. It stood close to the road and was becoming dangerous by occasionally dropping branches, big and small. The owners decided it had to come out.
